'Bald Coot' as a name for the Eurasian Coot antedates its use for the Purple
Swamphen. For instance it was used in coats of arms.

However there is a 19C Australian journal which uses 'Bald Coot' for the
Swamphen, as does an Australian/New Zealand Esperanto dictionary. However
the vast majority of references use it for Fulica atra.

Good old Google - and beware of common names !
