Thanks to all those people who offered suggestions on bird guides out of Cairns.

I spent the day last Friday with Del Richards of Finefeather Tours and we covered an area from Port Douglas to Mount Carbine.

A sensational day with 110 species, the highlights (for me) being:

Papuan Frogmouth
Red Backed Kingfisher
Macleay's Honeyeater
Pied Monarch
Freckled Duck
Pink Eared Duck
Grey Whistler

In all I managed 26 new birds.

A further highlight of the 4 days away was a small flock (12-15) Double-Eyed Fig Parrots on Cairns Esplanade yesterday morning - one landing at eye level some 5 metres from us!

Cheers

Peter
