There are a number of groups that seem to get a lot of unwarranted bad press - a case of a few bad apples etc etc. (the same could be said for birdwatchers if you think about it). Four Wheel drivers are one such group. For some years now Four Wheel Drive NSW & ACT Inc. have been an invaluable part of the tree planting weekends we hold in the Capertee Valley each May and August. Without them we would be nowhere as efficient as they transport all the tubestock (5000 tree and shrubs) from the nursery to the planting site (generally a round trip of 100 km or more) and then assist by driving water tankers or drag trailers around sometimes challenging sites to water the newly planted trees. Have a look at their website for an account of our last planting weekend http://nsw.4wd.org.au/cms/modules.php?op=modload&name=News&file=article&sid=158&mode=thread&order=0&thold=0 Our next planting weekend will be 20-21 August. If you are interested simply drop me a line or two. Cheers David Geering Regent Honeyeater Recovery Coordinator Department of Environment & Conservation P.O.
