I was in Millina Rd, Matcham today. The Privet is fruiting, and attracting lots of birds. There were upwards of 30 Regent Bowerbirds, mainly females, but At least two full plumage males and a few young males. They were very vocal, and were flocking together, both high in the canopy, then onto bare tree branches, then down to gather fruit. On more than one occasion they were quietened by a flying Grey Goshawk which I saw a few times. There were also a lot - more than 50 - Figbirds, many Silvereyes, and Brown Gerygones - all in and around the fruit. Nevil Lazarus <<attachment: winmail.dat>> |
