You'll find a number of reports in the birding-aus archive from Carol
Probert about birding around Katoomba. I visited my parent in the Blue
Mountains yesterday and the local paper had a nice picture of Carol and
a piece about mountains birds and her guiding business.
I don't know the upper mountains well but my favourites would be the Grand
Canyon/Evans lookout walk at Blackheath early in the morning when there
a fewer other walkers and Narrowneck <-> Ruined Castle at Katoomba.
Blue Gum Swamp at Winmalee is another great spot if you are passing
through the lower mountains
Also in the paper yesterday a nice piece on the flock of corellas thats
been very conspicuous around where I live (Glebe) for the last month:

I think a flock has appeared locally late summer for the last 3 years
so I guess there is some seasonal food source - must find out what it is.
