Hi Birding-aussers, interested to read Colin R's
comments, Blue-faces really are aggresive sods! However in Mowbray Park, East
Brisbane, Noisy Miners do the same job, I often see a small group get stuck into
individual Mynahs & they seem to leave no feather unturned!! What we really
need of course is for the local Magpie & Pied Butcherbird populations to
finish the job off. Around Brisbane, I have often watched Magpies as a
pair, seek out Common Starling nestlings (eggs?) closely followed by
a protesting pair(s) of Starlings in suburban roofs. In saying that though,
I once rescued an adult Pied Butcherbird from a mob of Noisy Miners in the above
mentioned suburban park, it really was quite dazed and took some time to
recover. Cheers - Paul W.
