Not a lot of response to my query about the flycatcher I photographed the
other day.
I'd really appreciate any and all feedback from people who are more used to
seeing Satins than I am.

Leaden Flycatchers are a regular bird around here in the Lockyer Valley;
Satin Flycatchers are very scarce indeed.
I've only ever had one male Satin at Abberton, and I've seen a couple more
around the valley in recent years, whereas Leaden is pretty well an everyday
bird.
On Monday, four female/immature flycatchers spent the morning here, and I
think they were Satin.
But, every criterion I can call on to confirm their id tends to be
subjective, and subjective assessment depends very much on familiarity if
it's got any chance of being valid. Compared with the Leadens we're used to
seeing (and a male Leaden can be pretty glossy around the head and breast,
by the way) these birds seemed to me to be more coloured, more uniform,
maybe a spot bigger.
But what I'd really value from birding-aussers who are more familiar with
Satin Flycatchers than I am, is whether there are any definitive criteria
for separating the females of these two species.
