The White-winged Chough is an uncommon bird in the Grafton-Coutts Crossing area although sightings are made throughout the year, suggesting a few small local sedentary populations.  They are mostly observed in woodland or partly forested farmland but do visit home gardens in Coutts Crossing.  Some years ago a group visited my backyard, accompanied by a noisily begging juvenile Channel-billed Cuckoo, presumably the forster parents.  The species was also commonly observed foraging on lawns and in gutters of an area in South Grafton near the Abattoirs.  They seem to have gone from there recently.  So they do inhabit urban areas in our local area but are based, and presumably breed, in the local forests/woodlands.
