There were some noisy Channel-Billed C's around West Chermside last Saturday. A pair flew overhead - magnificent birds when you haven't seen them for 4 or 5 years! There was also one calling for a while at Tinchi tamba the next morning - but I assume the SE Qld birds hang around a lot longer?

Hi Birding- aussers.

A week or so back there was some talk about late leaving Koels and
Channel-bills. This morning I woke up to a Koel calling and yesterday
morning (31St. Dec.) I heard a Channel-bill call, roughly about the same
time.

In my experience both these species call less frequently towards the end of
their season (probably after their egg laying is over), and their calls
become less insistent.

Also, I never hear Pheasant Coucals call after Dec. some time around my way.
. Anyone care to comment?

Bruce.
