For list members. I have just received this report of a Common Koel from a
friend (Richard Hodgson). Bendigo is about 160km north-north-west of
Melbourne. Richard was awoken by a loud calling he was unfamiliar with and
found the following.

Will be interesting to see whether it turns up in Melbourne like the Yarra
Bend (Alphington, Melbourne suburb) one of a few years back.

'One adult male Common Koel was sighted at 7:30 am on the morning of the
17th of Dec 2004 calling from a bare branch of a red stringy bark. It
stayed for about 2 min. then flew off in a southerly direction. The
sighting was made in dense box-ironbark forest about 12kms s.s.e of
Bendigo. '
