Hi Everyone
All those who are considering writing might also
like to cast their eyes over the Japan-Australia Migratory Birds Agreement
(JAMBA) and the China-Australia Migratory Birds Agreement (CAMBA). They are
short and easy to read and quote from. You can find them here:
www.deh.gov.au/biodiversity/migratory/waterbirds/index.html.
Species such as the Red-necked Stint, Little Tern and Ruddy Turnstone are listed
under the Annex to the agreements and frequent the area of the proposed trial. I
would imagine that the Administrator of Warringah Council would be placing us in
breach of our obligations under articles 3 and 4 of the agreements and his
Council in breach of the NSW Protected Species Act in regards to the Sooty
Oystercatcher, an endemic species which also frequents the area.
Emails copied to the relevent State and Federal
Ministers as well as the Total Environment Centre and National Parks personnel
would pack a little extra punch and draw this Council's folly to attention of
these folk.
Happy writing!
