Greetings from Canada!
I will be visiting eastern Australia (Sydney and
Brisbane areas) over the upcoming new year. A few of
you have already replied to me on private requests,
and thanks very much for your help. I have a few
further questions that I'm hoping to get some help
with:
1. What is the current status of Barren Grounds, and
how long will it take me to get there from Sydney? Is
it still the best option if I'm looking for E.
Bristlebird (especially), Chestnut-rumped Hylacola and
Pilotbird? Any alternatives closer to Sydney?
2. At the other end of the trip, I'll have 2-3 days
driving from Cunnamulla to Brisbane. Somewhere along
the way I'd like to pick up "Relict" Raven - valid as
a species or not! Any reliable places near the NSW-QLD
border? Tenterfield area?
If you've read this far, perhaps you could offer some
other advice - anything would be appreciated. This
will be the basic route, and advice (other than
'beware of the heat' - I've got that one a lot!) would
be great:
Sydney-Cowra-Forbes-Dubbo-Capertee-Barrengrounds?-Sydney
(for Superb Parrot, Gilbert's Whistler, Regent
Honeyeater, Speckled Warbler etc)
Lamington NP-Bundaberg-Inskip
Point-Mapleton-Cunnamulla-Thargominda-Tenterfield?-Brisbane
(any help for Russet-tailed Thrush near Mapleton would
be nice!)
Thanks for any help, and I look forward to visiting
your wonderful country in a couple weeks!
