On a tangent, while Googling to find more information on this book,
I came across another more recent (1980) book by Harry Frauca titled:
"The Australian Bird Spotters Book". Despite being published in my
lifetime, I've never heard of it. Then again, I've never heard of a
"bird spotter" - but it would explain where Spotted Harriers, Crakes,
Redshank, Turtle-doves, Nightjars, Pardalotes, Quail-thrush, Catbirds
and Bowerbirds come from. ;-)

(The site I found these books on was http://www.biblio.com , which
appears to be a useful resource for obtaining hard-to-get books.)
