Been too busy to be harassing people on this list about twitchathons.

However ...

The Whacked-out Woodswallows (three time defending champion in NSW) will be out and about again this weekend.  Our line-up has changed slightly with the retirement of Mick Todd but Carol Probets is as keen as ever and our new member, Clive Meadows, doesn't quite know what he's in for yet!  I'm not sure that we can match the 222 species we recorded last year but we are going to give it a good try !!

Funds from the 2004 Twitchathon in NSW will be going to the Capertee Valley Regent Honeyeater project with some of the funds being used to purchase water tankers to help with watering in of trees on planting weekends and drought proof the revegetation sites.  We are aiming for $15 000 this year.

To help raise the hoped for $15 000 we are going to need all the help we can get.  It's a very well worth while project and Peter Costello will very kindly reimburse all donations over $2 at tax time.  If you are looking for only one good cause to support this year then this is it.

I'm sure you will hear much more about the twitchathon next week.

By the way, ABC TV news will be airing a story about Regent Honeyeaters in the Capertee Valley this coming Sunday night.  My understanding is that, as well as the NSW ABC news, it could well be aired in the other states as well.  Unfortuneately I will be at the post-twitchathon celebrations in Newcastle when it is shown.

Cheers

David Geering
