peregrine falcons susbsist in sydney's cbd and numerous cliffs with apparently
more success than those late sea eagles.
some years ago a pair were nesting on the hilton hotel, though the ongoing
refurb may have put paid to that. it did have its hazards - one accidentally
flew into a 43rd flr suite and had to be rescued, presumably in the days before
aircond was mandatory.
more recently another pair has been nesting elsewhere in the cbd (world tower?)
with regular sightings on the wing, by myself included.
others live in the cliffs along north bondi golf course and in august i had the
pleasure of a long view of an immature peregrine perched on the rock shelf at
north maroubra. a good sign no doubt.
