Further to my last little say about vagrants, it would be reasonable to suspect
an
aviary escapee if it was found in an urban park in some built up area but not
in a
more "remote" place.
There have been several occasions reported on birding-aus of lovebirds, indian
ringneck parrots, etc turning up in suburbia. I have seen a cockatiel in
suburban
Doncaster (vic) and been responsible for releasing a Northern Rosella into the
wild in
Ballarat many years ago, much to my parents disgust, when I was cleaning out
its
cage.
But let's all take a look at what the species is, its location and likelihood
of it being
kept before we make predictions. If you are unsure about the occurrence of the
species in aviculture then don't comment. It only detracts from what is an
outstanding
observation.
