Hi Bird Lovers
Thank you to all the wader aficionados who responded to my request for the
best Field Guide for Waders.
The unanimous choice is: "Shorebirds - An Identification Guide to the Waders
of the World", by Peter Hayman, John Marchent and Tony Prater.
I have now heard a few warnings regarding the illustration quality in recent
paperback editions of this book. However, all agree that the illustrations
in the original hard cover version are second to none, as well as the
quantity and quality of the information.
Thanks too to David for info on acquiring second-hand copies. I will also
try "Biblioquest" who are Australian-based and have located a number of rare
titles for me on Eucalypts (another passion of mine). List members may wish
to save this address somewhere: www.booksearchwizard.com for future
reference: Very good service. $100 dollars is never too much to pay for a
good book on birds as there is always a mountain of research behind every
entry in these books, as those of you who have ever conducted any research
on birds will know.
Regards - Ricki
