For a number of years, we had a white-backed magpie at Noosa in SE
Queensland. It lived a normal life around a park with the local species.

Thanks for your input. This is now even more suprising. I was stunned when I
saw this Magpie and this is the first time I've seen or heard of a member of
this race (leuconota) in Sydney. Sydney-Melbourne rivalry aside, I find it
hard to imagine why one would bother to work its way this far north, but now
a report from Cooranbong? (near Newcastle)
Can anyone else out there beat Cooranbong for a northerly sighting of the
"White-backed Magpie" or race leuconota?
