Hi Alan,
thanks for your input.
I would still describe the tailband as sub-terminal, it
being closer to the tip of the tail than to the rump. It is
closest to the tip of the tail at the edges rather than at its
centre. So, it is about 5mm. from the tip at the edge of
the tail and about 10mm. at the tail's centre.
The grey terminal band therefore varies in width from
about 5 to 10 mm..
For those that haven't seen it, Nevil Lazarus' photos are
available on ozbirdpix which is easily found via google and
presumably other search engines. Yahoo will also find it. One of the
photos shows this blue band well.
