Noisy Miners and Internet Privacy

Addendum:

I have phone and mobile numbers for this project if anyone wants them, but I try not to put other people's numbers in messages. Remember that ALL birding-aus messages are automatically archived, thanks to the superb ongoing work of Andrew Taylor at UNSW. The archive is regularly (?) accessed by search engines, so anything that comes to birding-aus eventually gets to Google! I suppose that's a reminder to only post useful information that you are happy to share with the whole world - yes, it does mean effective world-wide publication. This mailing list is also mirrored on a couple of list archives, but I think their records are produced dynamically through scripts, so they might not be found by search bots and web crawlers. Now you understand why I'm troubled about personal attacks and privacy!

If you doubt my words, try searching Google for your name if you've posted a few messages to Birding-Aus.

Cheers

Russell
