With the amount of information available over the loss of these birds, it is a little early to point the finger of blame at long-line fisherman. What are the dimensions, weight (with batteries) and method of fitting a transmitter to the Albatross? Is it possible that human interference to the birds by placing a transmitter on them could be to blame?

I heard on ABC news this morning that 'Aphrodite' has disappeared, possibly due
to a longliner. Nothing will highlight the plight of these birds better than
such a disaster.
