I can tell you where all the NFB have gone- to the Swamp Mahogany blossom on
the Central and Lower North coast of NSW. I was at Pindimar near Tea Gardens
last week and the birds were in huge numbers on the blossom- Noisy
Friarbirds, Red Wattlebirds, Little Wattlebirds, Musk Lorikeets, Little
Lorikeets, Scaly Breasts, Rainbow and they were as loud as the cicadas on a
summer day. No Swift Parrots or Regent HE unfortunately.
As for Noisy Miners- make the bush more closed! Once the vegetation opens up
they take over unfortunately.

I live at Joyner, a suburd about 25 km from Brisbane ( near Lake
Samsonvale ).
Can someone advise if there is a 'season' for friarbirds. Used to see little
and noisy friarbirds on regular basis, but have not seen any for months.
When in my garden they are always given a hard time by noisy miners-do they
eventually move on, never to return?
On subject of noisy miners- do not dislike them at all-but are there any
clues on how they can be discouraged in large numbers to allow other
visitors?
