Sorry I am a little late joining the conversation,
but I have been away for Easter.
One day at a back-water of the Bjielke-Petersen Dam
near Nanango (north-west of Brisbane - 100 kms ????) a friend and I were
attracted by a "moaning" sound nearby. When we investigated, we
found a Channel-Billed Cuckoo actually pushing a complaining Torresian Crow
aside on its nest, obviously to lay an egg. It seemed the male
Cuckoo had attracted the male crow away, but the female was not cunning about
her task of laying. She departed quickly, and the crow just seemed
to settle on the nest again!
