Hi all

A few of you might have missed my message from a week or so ago. Birding-Aus is no longer transmitting messages in html format, only old-fashioned plain text! The reason is that spammers and forgers are now using emails with embedded html to entice people to visit websites where they would otherwise never go! As soon as these messages are opened, Internet Explorer (or your other browser) fires up and connects to the site without asking for your approval. I'm sure you can appreciate why I'm trying to block this sort of message.

A few contributors have had problems with some letters (or other characters) not appearing in their messages. Others have had the =20 combination scattered through messages. If you know how to set your email program's Text Encoding, then try sending messages in Western (Windows latin 1) or Western (ISO Latin 1).

Sorry for any troubles

Russell
