First, birds that were seen throughout the trip included
the following:
Starlings (great flocks, all south of the border),
Indian Myna (in towns and pastures everywhere), Willie Wagtail,
Masked Lapwing, Galah, Torresion Crow (northerly), Australian
Raven (southerly), Maned Wood Duck, Crested Pigeon
(towns), Magpie, Currawong (didn't see the Grey, sadly!),
Magpie Lark (always appeared as 'advance warning' of inhabited
areas coming up), Ibis (Straw-necked ?southerly, and
Sacred/White ?northerly), Welcome Swallow, Kookaburra, White
Cockatoo, Butcherbird (seemed to be mostly Greys that I
saw), Lewin's Honeyeater, Grey Fantail, Nankeen Kestrels
(south of the border).
