Hi all,
Occasionally I hear a mystery bird call emanating from the bush behind my backyard and I'm stumped as to what it is.
I live on the Central Coast, NSW and my yard backs onto a steep slope of dry sclerophyll forest. Somewhere in the undergrowth a bird calls out repeatedly with a loud, harsh, synthetic sounding "Squeee-o", interspersed occasionally with chatterings, chortlings and i think some mimicry. If this bird's not mimicing, it certainly has a very impressive array of sounds at its disposal.
I've never seen the thing because its very shy and elusive.
If you could help with the ID I'd appreciate it.
