I'm not so convinced there is an easy solution to the Indian Myna problem (we don't have them in Dubbo).

The trapping programs may have merit for those wanting localised control but I can't see how this is going to have any wider impact.  It's a bit like fox baiting, unless your neighbours do it then they are only going to recolonise fairly quickly.  Even if you get good collaboration over a reasonable area there will always be migration into the control area as young birds, in particular, are always looking for unoccupied territories.  Current methods of control will only have localised effects.  While this might suit those who don't want Mynas in their backyard it's not going to have much of a positive impact where it matters - the wider impact of Mynas on other fauna.

We need to draw a line in the sand much as they have done with Starlings in Western Australia.  I find it very sad that Indian Mynas are now in my home town of Wauchope - the closest they were when I lived in Wauchope was Nabiac south of Taree.  Granted, Starlings may be "easier?" to prevent from crossing the Nullabor and we may just have to accept that the coastal plain of NSW and Queensland will be totally colonised but it's just possible that we can stop the inland expansion as it appears that Mynas move along the major transport routes, establishing footholds at truckstops and fast food establishments.

No easy answers.
