Two very contrasting days in Turramurra (N
Sydney)
Saturday - clear blue skies and 29C - sounds of
small groups of passerines passing overhead - I finally got onto a couple of
separate groups - Yellow Faced HEs, White Naped HEs and Silvereyes. These
are the normal migrants that I see passing over my house in the autumn, but this
seems a bit earlier than usual to me, but perhaps I've only caught the advance
guard, not the main body of migration.
Sunday - cool, windy and rainy - but managed to get
outside quickly enough when the Noisy Miner alarm went off to see a Whistling
Kite come up from the south and then turn eastwards (under heavy mobbing
pressure) over St Ives.
Cheers
