On Friday I was having a picnic at Green Patch (Jervis Bay, NSW) on Friday when as a result of my son throwing his crusts to the birds and we found ourselves surrounded by 25 Pied Currawongs. I was impressed and commenting on the large flock size when one of the birds regurgitated a roundish pellet (about 1.5cm in diameter) of green material and seeds. The green material and possibly the seeds appears to have come from a species of native pine. I counted approximately 65 seeds in the pellet.

This is the first time that I have observed such behaviour and with volume 7 of HANZAB not due out next year I have no reference book to refer to. Can anyone comment if this is usual behaviour.

Regards

Alastair
