Paid a quick visit to the Cheetham Salt Works at Geelong today, and was pleased to see that the Banded Stilts have arrived in large numbers. I talked to a birdo supervisor at the Salt works and he believes that they have been there for two weeks. (Getting slack...but i've been on holidays : )) A visitors pass can be obtained from the office at the Salt works, and they are happy to allow birders in. The Banded Stilts, Avocets and most of the other waders can be seen from the highway however. Peter |
