In September, 1990 (give or take a year) we were on
one of Phil Maher's Grasswren Spectacular tours and camped near the Grey
Grasswren site just over the border in Qld from nortwestern NSW when a
Channel-billed Cuckoo flew over, calling, at 4AM. Both Jim Perry and I heard
this bird.
