g'day all,
A very brief note to report that Graham Wardle from Atherton & I got an excellent view of a single non-breeding Red-necked Phalarope late yesterday afternoon on Wide Bay, Lake Moondarra, Mount Isa.

To my knowledge, this species has been sighted 3 times at Lake Moondarra.

Other  Shorebird/Waders from overseas included

- Black-tailed Godwit          13

- Oriental Plover                   1 (two weeks ago there was + 400)

- Red-necked Stint               4

- Pacific Golden Plover         2

- Marsh Sandpiper              20+
- Sharp-tailed Sandpipers  100s

I did follow up the recent Birding-Aus lead of Nick Dymond's (from the Faroe Islands) sighting of the R-n P on the Tablelands Hwy (NT) at the Playford River but the 1100km round trip was unsuccessful. I have heard on the grapevine that one was at the Alice Springs Sewage Ponds. Any more info available on that ?

We will no doubt, publish more details of the observation.

Regards
Bob Forsyth, Mount Isa, NW Qld.
The more you watch the more you see !

The Birds Queensland Gazetteer
includes a selection of Mount Isa's birding spots.
