Greg, Thanks very much for your email. I have been back to the sight and found the bird again. It is a definite Little Curlew. The right eye has no smudge of dark but the left one has a hint of dark in front of the eye. The markings on the head are only on the back of the head and so not visible from the front at all. When I have seen others the stripes have been very obvious from all angles but with this bird were only visible from behind and hinted at from the side once you knew they were there. Regards, Alan |
