Hi
I got 'swooped' a couple of weeks ago by a Pied Butcherbird. The first I
knew of it's presence was the sharp clack of it's bill in my ear. To say
I nearly jumped out of my skin would be a dramatic understatement. The
criminal swung up into a tree and sat there looking smug.
After I had suitably berated him, indignantly, as I assured him I was,
after all, on his side, I continued on my way - only to have him repeat
the silent attack, as if to say - "Just so you know I can!"
Very deadly - no hint of his presence until the absolute last minute
then there was the tiniest swish of air just prior to the loudest,
sharpest bill clap that would put a Marbled Frogmouth to shame........
