Although we have been seeing gannets feeding daily over the last 2 months
along the Edithvale stretch of coastline, always within a couple of hundred
metres of the shore, today was different. There have been over 400 gannets
within about 70 metres from the shore, resting in large rafts once tired
from gorging themselves on whatever it is they are catching. Because of the
shallowness they are not diving from a very great height. Many of them are
juveniles.
If you haven't been lucky enough to see this spectacular sight at close
range, great views can be had from the Gnotuk Rd carpark, Aspendale, see
Melways 92 J7
