Birds seen along the beach

 

Silver Gull

Red capped Plover

Greater Sand Plover

Sacred Ibis

Royal Spoonbill

Great Egret

Little Egret

Eastern Reef Egret

Pelican

Gull billed Tern - the smaller summer migrants (Race affinis) were also present  

Lesser-Crested Tern

Little Tern

Pied & Sooty Oystercatchers

Grey tailed Tattler

Ruddy Turnstone

Red Knot

Grey Plover

Bar tailed and Black tailed Godwits

Eastern Curlew

Whimbrel

Common Greenshank

Pied Cormorant

Little Black Cormorant

Striated Heron

White- faced Heron

Black necked Stork up to 3 seen on the beach

Red necked Stint

Curlew Sandpiper

Common Sandpiper

Black winged Stilt

Red necked Avocet

Caspian Tern

 

I had a quick visit to the Sewerage works that are currently closed for major renovations but you can still get a reasonable look through the fence.

Thousands of Plumed Whistling Ducks were present also:

 

Black Swan

Pacific Black Duck

Hardhead

Australasian Grebe

Eurasian Coot

Red- kneed Dotterel

Masked Lapwing

Whiskered Tern

 

Opposite the Mercure Hotel was a pair of nesting Ospreys with 2 chicks and a roosting Tawny Frogmouth about 3 metres off the ground. Also saw Rainbow Lorikeets, Striated Pardalote, Pheasant Coucal and White- gaped Honeyeaters in town.
