Maroubra

Yesterday I had to drive someone to Sydney airport so I took the
opportunity to visit Maroubra and have a look for the Orange-bellied
Parrot, where I bumped into a few other birders doing the same.
Unfortunately I dipped on the parrot, but had a nice time anyway. Lovely
close views of the Kestrel at Magic Point; also Brown Goshawk and
Black-shouldered Kite; plenty of displaying and gloriously singing
Skylarks; Superb and Variegated Fairy-wrens, and I heard but didn't see the
Emu-wrens. A Reed-warbler was singing and Golden-headed Cisticolas were
showing off their breeding plumage. For a while a few trail bike riders
were making birding quite difficult and unpleasant.

Cheers

Carol
