Hi Jo,
Forest Kingfishers usually leave our area (hinterland of the Sunshine Coast,
Qld) during the winter, and they are absent as usual this year - my point
being that they are not staying here in this milder than usual winter. Can't
comment on numbers seen last summer.  I haven't been paying enough
attention.

I'm way down on waders in Caloundra this winter. I would normally have 30-50
overwintering Bar-tail Godwits, and haven't seen one since May 15. What sort
of wintering population of waders do you have up there now?
