Hi Vin and B-Aussers,
An interesting find! This bird I think has to be a strange Silver gull,
all other features seem to point towards this species, most of the other
suggestions vary in size, shape and other detail. This bird however,
fits Silver gull all except the bare parts - although the dark wingtips
are interesting, but a number of other birds in the shots seem to show
this also??
Not quite as extreme, but a bird I saw recently (late June) here in NZ
showed similarly strange coloured legs - I have posted photos at

Check them out for comparison. This bird showed the usual 'windows' in
the closed wing, but I didn't see it fly.
Anyway, interesting birds!
