This afternoon we took a Yarra bank stroll at Warringal Park, Heidelburg- not only was the first Silver wattle coming into bloom but we saw Magpies carrying nest material to a well-built nest in a cedar. This evening as I type this in I can hear a Song-Thrush singing at 6 pm, though the light has almost gone. Nice to know some have survived the drought. I am certain that their numbers have been locally reduced over the last few years. Anthea Fleming in Ivanhoe, Vic.
