Hello listers,
Anyone wishing to know the exact location of a named place should go to
http://www.ga.gov.au/map/names/
Input the required name and search; this will give a list of corresponding
name/s. Click on the one you wish to locate, and it will display a map with
the location highlighted.
On that same first entry page, you can also select 'Compute a Distance
between gazetted place names' - key in the name of the place you want to
locate, plus the name of some known/significant town or whatever in the
general area, and it will give you a distance in kilometres (as the corvid
flies, not road distance).
If you want to find a road route between these two points, go to
http://www.travelmate.com.au/
which will give you a detailed route plan, distances, time taken to travel
each leg, where/when to turn, etc.
Good birding
