An amazing sight today outside my work: an immature Crimson Rosella was flying across a road at the safe height (above car-roof) when a bus suddenly moved in front of it. I winced, expecting an impact, but the Rosella, who was flying at normal Rosella speed ie not slowly, seemed to stop dead in flight, give two flaps to gain height and then passed safely over the top of the bus. Distance from beak to bus during this manoeuvre was about 3 inches.
