Wife and self believe that they give a distinct alarm call for peregrine falcons - much more of a real screech than they make with other raptors, e.g. Pacific bazas - and when we hear it we usually see the Peregrine. They also seem to have a distinct call for cats. White-cheeked herons cause a call too. Was originally a skint twitcher, assumed small affluence, and spent it on twitching! No regrets! But kids might have!
