Hi David and others,
Whilst driving through a patch of box-ironbark forest north of Bendigo
yesterday (near Eaglehawk), I was astonished to come across a large number
of flowering Red Ironbark and Grey Box! There were prolific numbers of
Musk Lorikeets and the odd Purple-crowned. The whole central Victorian
region is incredibly dry and similarly to David's thoughts for the western
slopes of the divide in NSW, I wondered whether the region would have it's
second consecutive 'blossom failure' this winter.
Yesterday's observation however provides some hope. Bring on the rain, and
the birds!
