Dropped in at Ash Island Saturday on way home from Newcastle so guess I was there at wrong time of tide (1-2 pm) as it was just starting to ebb. There were no avocets or ducks but hundreds of Black-winged Stilts, and good numbers of Common Greenshank, Sharp-tailed and Marsh Sandpipers.  Also one each Red-capped Plover, Little, Intermediate and Great Egret, White-faced Heron, E. Curlew and 6 White-fronted Chats on Wagtail alley (but no wagtails).

It is good to see the ever increasing amount of native trees and shrubs being planted and how well the earlier plantings are growing.
