Hello Steve, I passed on the info about this area (Melways Map 19, J5 Moonstone Walk) to 3 BOCA friends & they visited the ponds on Friday morning, 10th January. Two of them saw the male Little Bittern so were very well pleased. They also enjoyed the Blue-billed Duck, Baillon's Crake & other water birds. They met the local lady, Gale, who keeps an eye on the birds & she told them the Little Bitterns were nesting. I shall look forward to another visit soon. (In my own mind I call this area "Spectacle Ponds" because that's what they look like on the Melways Map!) Cheers, Celia Birding-Aus is on the Web at www.shc.melb.catholic.edu.au/home/birding/index.html To unsubscribe from this mailing list, send the message "unsubscribe birding-aus" (no quotes, no Subject line) to |
