Thanks, Steve, for your posting about the Little Bittern in the small ponds at Moonstone Walk, Bundoora. I arrived at 10:10 AM & at 10:13 was lucky enough to see it fly from left to right & land on top of tall reeds opposite the small gazebo at the left hand pond. In company with Ray we had it in the scope for 10-15 minutes of excellent viewing, a "lifer" for both of us, so we are well pleased. We believed it to be a female Little Bittern. Also present Blue-billed Duck & lots of other water fowl. Ray had seen Baillon's Crake earlier in the morning too. This is an great spot that I (& I suspect many others) didn't know about so very many thanks for alerting us. Cheers, Celia Birding-Aus is on the Web at www.shc.melb.catholic.edu.au/home/birding/index.html To unsubscribe from this mailing list, send the message "unsubscribe birding-aus" (no quotes, no Subject line) to |
