Francophone birding-aussers might like to know there is a French language mailing list
AVIMONDE with subscribers worldwide. While most subscribers are in France or Quebec, there is a strong interest in world birding, including Australia. (A recent discussion has been on the taxonomy of the Kimberley form of the Pied Imperial-Pigeon). Lucien Gues the moderator is very friendly and keen to see more Australian involvement and stresses that fluent French is not essential, as they are happy to "help out".  The Avimonde site contains a downloadable file of the RAOU list of Australian birds with names in French and English which makes it all a lot easier.
