On a recent trip to the Top End and Kakadu I noticed the same thing as
Denise.  No shops carried bird field guides or other useful natural history
books.  Puzzling as here even the cafe at the botanic garden has a
respectable selection of bird and plant books.

In similar vein we were in the bird hide at Mamakala, looking out on the
magnificent wetland dotted with birdlife.  In came a mini-bus load of
tourists, took one look at the scene and said "Where are the crocodiles?"
