All the field guides I have seen show 2 principal variations of this bird-- the first with the duller coloured back and blue facial skin patch and the second, more northern bird, with a bright golden back and the facial skin patch a greeny-yellow. Just for the record, I saw a flock of BCHEs (about 7) in trees at the caravan park at Heavitree Gap (Alice Springs) on Friday Sept 12th. These were the golden backed form (very bright) and all had bright blue facial skin.
